Once I was a young man
A young man once was I
I took my bike to the top of the hill and thought that I would die
But I didn't then and I never will
So now, I'm doing more dangerous things
Just to give myself a thrill. 

Once I was an actor
An actor once was I
When I walked up to the front of the stage,
I thought that I would die 

So, I then became a butcher
A butcherman was I
I sliced my hand on a carving knife and thought that I would die.
But I didn't then and I never will
So now, I'm doing more dangerous things
Just to give myself a thrill 

I got into construction
A construction man was I
I looked down from the 30th floor and thought that I would die.
But I didn't then and I never will
So I keep on doing these dangerous things,
Just to give myself a thrill 

I settled down as a doctor
A doctor now am I
My patients ask me if they will live and I tell them they won't die.
Even though they might...eventually they will!
And now my day will come, now that my life has been fulfilled.
